6 Chrome Extensions That Unlock Some GPT-4 Features (Without Paying for ChatGPT Plus)
Whether you can't afford ChatGPT Plus or are a ChatGPT Plus subscriber, these extensions will improve your experience with ChatGPT.
Hi guys! Today we have our first guest writer—Diana! She’s been writing on Medium for some months and recently decided to start a new journey on Substack. Diana’s Substack AI Girl is focused on helping you make the most out of AI tools such as Midjourney, ChatGPT, etc.
Here’s a free article she wants to share with all of you. For more like this, check out her Substack and consider becoming a subscriber!
Over the past months, I’ve extensively explored all the available plugins for ChatGPT. During this time, I found amazing plugins that have improved the way I use ChatGPT, but now, I’m about to reveal something you need to know.
Some of these paid features from ChatGPT Plus are now accessible to all ChatGPT users for free thanks to Chrome extensions! These extensions have helped me replace some of my favorite features in the ChatGPT Plus subscription and today I’ll reveal them to you.
#1 WebChatGPT
ChatGPT’s biggest drawback is that it’s stuck in 2021, which can be a real bummer when you need the latest info, but now, thanks to WebChatGPT, you can get real-time updates. This Chrome extension lets you pull in web results and snatch text from web pages on tons of websites.
Just look — It plays like a charm with GPT-3.5. Check out what it was able to find for me.
This is information from 2023! By the way, you can still get answers from GPT-3.5 even if you have this extension.
As you can see, it works quite accurately! If you deal with real-time information from the internet, this feature can be incredibly valuable to you. Let me explain how to install it, and it will only take a minute of your time.
Simply visit this website and add the Chrome extension. Once it’s installed, it will be integrated into your ChatGPT.
If you wish to disable it, drag the slider and turn it back on when needed.
#2 Summarize any webpage or Youtube video
Plugins can summarize YouTube videos but are exclusive to ChatGPT Plus users. Fortunately, free ChatGPT users can now have this functionality thanks to the next plugin.
ChatGPT Summary is a free Chrome extension that leverages the power of ChatGPT by OpenAI to provide you with fast and accurate YouTube video transcripts.
I decided to showcase an example from one of the videos created by a YouTuber who generated one million dollars using ChatGPT. The best part is that I don’t even have to open ChatGPT in a separate tab; I receive all the information conveniently in the corner of my screen.
This is one of my favorite extensions because it has saved me much of my time.
#3 Copy your text without highlight
This feature has finally arrived, and I’m incredibly thrilled about it!
When you copy text directly from ChatGPT and paste it somewhere else, it always comes with an annoying highlight.
Until now, I had to move the text to another location and copy it again. Fortunately, I found a solution: ‘Copying ChatGPT.’ This is another valuable extension that adds a ‘Copy’ button to each response, allowing you to quickly copy without the need for manual selection. Additionally, it offers keyboard shortcuts (CMD+K or CTRL+K) and even runs the copied text through plagiarism detectors, alerting you to any potential issues.
Look at the difference.
#4 The extension that writes comments for LinkedIn
Engage AI represents a revolutionary leap forward for those into social media who want to quickly comment on posts. This Chrome extension has been designed to help you create insightful LinkedIn comments.
The extension also provides different tones to select from such as friendly, funny, disagree, congratulate, and question. These tones allow you to customize your responses based on a specific context.
All you need to do is open a LinkedIn post, click ‘Comment,’ and let Engage AI read the post and provide comments for you.
Note: This will not replace an answer from a living person, but it will generate a comment that you can adjust if necessary.
Here’s a comment Engage AI generated after analyzing a LinkedIn post:
#5 Talk to ChatGPT
Speak to ChatGPT is an excellent choice when you prefer not to type your questions. It enables you to have a conversation with ChatGPT by utilizing your microphone, translating spoken words into text, and providing spoken responses generated by AI.
This official extension seamlessly supports a wide range of languages and is easily accessible from the ChatGPT homepage
Note: This tool may not yet fully excel in recognizing human speech and occasionally makes errors, but on the whole, it grasps the context
All you need to do is download this extension from the website, visit ChatGPT, enable your microphone, and then you can start a conversation.
#6 Change ChatGPT design
This extension is for those who appreciate ChatGPT’s standard chat interface but wish to give it a little extra flair.
With the Botrush Browser extension, you can inject some color and style into your ChatGPT interface. It boasts a selection of more than 15 colors and 25 fonts for you to customize. This extension not only revamps the ChatGPT user interface but also elevates the overall user experience by introducing additional functionalities such as download and sharing options.
Just look at the designs available!

Bonus: Meme Creator ChatGPT Plugin
Last but not least, I want to share a funny ChatGPT plugin I found recently.
Meme Creator plugin is good for those looking to incorporate humorous images into their content. Simply input any phrase you’d like to turn into a meme, and Meme Creator will generate a meme for you within seconds.
For instance, consider the perpetual debate between cat and dog lovers, and you’ll have a pre-made meme at your disposal.
