Perplexity's latest valuation has reached 3 billion USD. Why is its valuation so high?

Search is still the most lucrative and largest market on the internet.

Microsoft Bing only has a 3.4% share of global search, but it generates 12 billion USD in annual revenue. If AI search can capture just 1%-2% of Google's market share, this business becomes substantial.

AI search should be the biggest killer app for large models in the early stages, and we can see that the number of queries per active user per day on Perplexity is actually more than three times that of Google.

Perplexity has a very high long-term retention rate, which I remember is significantly higher than other AI products.

Perplexity's data growth has been consistently strong. Over the past year, the company has iterated its products rapidly, with stable growth and monthly growth rates exceeding 20%.

Additionally, looking back over the past year's progress in the AI field, information retrieval is the most important use case that matches model capabilities. The next most important might be education, as these two scenarios truly match today's model capabilities.

If everyone understands the capabilities of today's models, then they will see how well these products match.
